Tom Stearns Fine Art

About Tom Stearns
I enjoy creating art, whether drawing, painting, writing or music. I believe fun is fundamental to a happy life. I strive to create art more and to improve but the simple act of creating is its own reward. I hope you enjoy the paintings and pastels I've shared here.
I graduated from Saint Anselm College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. Following graduation, I pursued a graphics arts career — which quickly turned into a brand management, marketing and sales career — where I continue to work today. Along the way, while also marrying and raising two children, I pursued creativity in a variety of disciplines including writing and reading poetry in the Cambridge, MA poetry scene. I learned to play the accordion and played in several bands since 1996. Through all of this oil painting has been a passion and continues to be.
Inspired by Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keefe, John Singer Sargent and the many plein air painters I look at daily, I'm drawn to the simple beauty of life all around us and the layers of meaning in just about everything. My paintings attempt to capture some of that.
I won second prize in the 2014 and 2016 Hopedale Day in The Park shows for Oil Paintings, an honorable mention at the 2013 Blackstone Valley Art Association Octoberst Show and a purchase prize in 2011 from the Hopedale Day in the Park Show.
I am a member of the Blackstone Valley Art Association and the Attleboro Arts Museum.
